At Panther, we often get asked why our extension cords are made of metal versus the plastic material favored by other brands in the market.
The answer is simple:
While plastic extension cords are cheaper to produce, Panther chooses to manufacture and distribute heavy duty metal extensions cords to the market because these provide better value for money for our customers.
While plastic extension cords are lighter and more aesthetically pleasing, the benefit of Panther’s heavy duty metal extension cords is they are longer lasting. Because they last longer, they will save our customers money in the long run, and help reduce wastage in the environment. Waste not, want not!
What’s the difference?
Metal extension cords are sturdier, more durable, and heavy duty
Obviously, metal extension cords are made of sturdier and more durable material compared to plastic extension cords. But what’s the implication for your extension cord?
For example: when you accidentally step on or drop a metal extension cord, this may result in a slight bump, but no further damage occurs and you can happily continue to use the extension cord.
If this were a plastic extension cord though, you run the risk of the housing and its materials (e.g., outlet) cracking. Further usage of a cracked plastic extension cord is NOT recommended as it could cause irreparable harm to your appliance given potential damage within the plastic extension cord
Parts in metal extension cords are easier to replace
Imagine a certain outlet/switch breaks (for a variety of reasons – e.g., the appliances you plugged in exceeded the advisable wattage capacity). In the case of plastic extension cords, there’s a high likelihood that when one part stops working, the rest follows since the parts within are all interlinked. This means, there’s no way to salvage it, so you’d have to throw it away.
However, given how Panther’s metal extension cords are constructed, we can easily replace that particular outlet/switch for you, with no additional service fee given our lifetime service warranty. You simply have to pay for the parts replaced (at cost), and voila, you have your extension cord back! Not only have you saved money, but you’ve also helped save the environment, one extension cord at a time.
Metal extension cords are safe from grounding and rust
Many customers have raised the concern that metal extension cords could result in grounding or rust. Rest assured that this is NOT a concern for Panther extension cords.
All Panther extension cords have insulation between the metal casing and the wiring components, which prevents grounding. Likewise, for Panther extension cords with ground, there are grounding terminals which provides an alternate pathway for electrical current to follow and channel the stray current back to the ground before it can cause a fire or shock
Lastly, Panther extension cords are made from 100% powder-coated metal, which protects the unit from rust, scratches, and other signs of wear and tear
In this article, we have covered the three reasons why heavy duty metal extension cords are better than plastic extension cords:
- Metal extension cords are sturdier, more durable, and heavy duty
- Parts in metal extension cords are easier to replace
- Powder-coated metal extension cords are safe from grounding and rust
We hope this article was able to showcase the benefits of metal extension cords over plastic extension cords. Whether you’re purchasing extension cords for your household, commercial, or industrial use – we assure you Panther’s metal extension cords will provide you the best value for money at an extremely competitive price!

Good Day,
I just wanted to know if you have service center here in Cavite.
Thanks…
Good day! Unfortunately, we currently do not have a service center in Cavite. If you purchased the item from Ace/DIY/Handyman/True Value, you can opt to bring it to those stores and they will send it to us. Note that this may take a longer time, as they will not send it to us immediately.
For more information, please see article: https://panther.ph/lifetime-service-warranty/
Can I still send the item to Ace Hardware even if I lost my receipt?
Or is there a way I can send it to your service center (through delivery) and have it repaired?
Good day! Most Ace branches won’t require the receipt, but some branches may require a receipt, depending on their branch policies.
It would be best to ask the branch directly. Alternatively, you can definitely send it direct to our service center and have it repaired. This would typically have a faster turnaround time. You can inquire directly at our service center via Viber 0998 954 3316 or email wecare.panther@gmail.com
