Why you need a voltage protector

We’ve all suffered from the problematic power supply in the Philippines, which results in regular voltage surge / deficits both at home and at the workplace. This sudden rise or drop in electricity can be caused by multiple factors: power outages, living near areas that use high-powered equipment during certain time periods only (e.g., malls, factories). Regardless of what causes it, the effects on us are clear – these voltage irregularities cause damage to our appliances and increased expenses for us.

The solution to this is to make use of AVRs (Automatic Voltage Regulators), which can regulate and stabilize the voltage supplied to your appliance to an acceptable range. A good quality AVR can last you a lifetime and will provide great returns for your investment in the long run, since they protect your appliance from damage so they won’t need replacement.

Unfortunately, we understand that during these troubled times, a good quality AVR may be beyond your current household budget. So, to help our customers, we’ve come up with the Panther Voltage Protector, which is a more basic version of the AVR*.

*Disclaimer: Panther Voltage Protector does NOT regulate voltage supply to your appliance

How does the Panther Voltage Protector work?

Step 1: Detect Voltage Anomalies

The Panther Voltage Protector detects AC voltage anomalies, specifically significant voltage surge when input voltage is too high (> 250V AC) or voltage deficits when input voltage is too low (<160V AC).

Step 2: Cut-off Power Supply to Appliance

When it detects these voltage anomalies, it will automatically cut off the power supply to your appliance, thus preventing it from reaching and damaging said appliance

Step 3: Automatic Reconnection to Power once Voltage has Normalized

Once the voltage supply returns to normal, the Panther Voltage Protector will automatically reconnect the power supply to your appliance. You don’t have to manually do this – the Panther Voltage Protector will automatically do it for you!

Panther Voltage Protector Function

What other benefits does the Panther Voltage Protector provide?

The Panther Voltage Protector provides additional Voltage Surge Protection features:

  • 900 Joules energy absorption threshold

To provide peace of mind, the Panther Voltage Protector can absorb up to 900 Joules before it reaches your appliance. Essentially, before the transient energy can reach and harm your appliance, the Panther Voltage Protector will already absorb it thus preventing it from reaching said appliance. Note that the Voltage Protector would cut off the power supply when this happens, but this is simply an additional level of protection for your device

The Panther Voltage Protector has a built-in 15 sec./30 sec./3 mins. power-on-delay feature. Note that during the initial few seconds/minutes after the return of power post-outage or a voltage surge, voltage fluctuations can still occur even if they are already within the “acceptable” voltage range of 160V AC to 250V AC. As such, the power-on-delay allows for a “grace period,” in which the Panther Voltage Protector will wait out these fluctuations. To provide greater flexibility, you can choose between the three available time range (15 sec./30 sec./3 mins.) for the one that works best for you

PVP 2500 Panther Voltage Protector

Lastly, the Panther Voltage Protector is easy-to-use and designed w/ the customer in mind:

  • The Panther Voltage Protector is lightweight, portable and pocket-sized – making it easy to bring along with you during your travels across the metro, or even abroad. This way, you can be sure your appliance remains safe no matter where you use it.
  • Also, the outlet can rotate from 0 to 350 degrees to save on socket space, and is particularly useful when your outlets are located in tight areas

When is the Panther Voltage Protector recommended?

Appliance for PVP vs AVR

Keep in mind the main protective function provided by the Panther Voltage Protector is by cutting off the power supply to your appliance during intense voltage surge/deficits (<160V AC or >250V AC). It does NOT regulate the power supply to the appliance. As such, we would only recommend the Panther Voltage Protector if the following conditions are met

  • Your appliance is not sensitive to voltage fluctuations OR your area is not subjected to regular voltage fluctuations. Note that voltage fluctuations can occur within the 160V AC – 250V AC range, which the Voltage Protector cannot protect you from as it is still within its “acceptable” voltage range
  • Your appliance can be shut off suddenly when there’s a voltage surge/deficit. For example: Refrigerators can be turned off for a few minutes when there’s a voltage surge, and it would still successfully meet its cold storage function.

If the above conditions are NOT MET, you may want to consider purchasing a Panther AVR or Manual Voltage Regulator instead. These equipment are able to regulate the power supply to your appliance, thereby allowing you to continue using your appliances without fear despite ongoing fluctuations. For a clearer idea on the difference between the two, you can check out this article: Difference between Automatic Voltage Regulator and Manual Voltage Regulator

However, if the above conditions apply to you and you want to try out the Panther Voltage Protector, you now have two options to choose from: PVP 2500 and PVP 3500

What are the available Panther Voltage Protection options to choose from?

We currently have two Panther Voltage Protector models:

PVP 2500
  • Perfect for smaller appliances such as TVs, household refrigerators and the like
  • Rated 2500 Watts Capacity
  • Two-way outlet w/ Grounding: Perfect for most appliances that use Type A, Type B or Type C plugs

I bought Panther PVE 1500 with relay. I noticed that the unit gets hot. Not really too hot, but hot enough to cause attention. Is this normal ? I’m using this for my inverter refrigerator.

Good day! Thank you for your inquiry! 🙂 It is normal for the PVE 1500 with relay to heat up because the transformer inside is working. As long as you can touch the AVR, even if the heat is a bit uncomfortable, then that is normal. We hope this answers your question!

      Good day!
      1) No need to turn off the voltage protector when not in use, as it consumes minimal electricity. However, you can still choose to do so for peace of mind
      2) Lifetime SERVICE Warranty is applied on ALL Panther products, so long as the warranty sticker is left intact (proof that no tampering has occurred). For more information, you can check out this link: https://panther.ph/lifetime-service-warranty
      3) The product is worn out and may need to be replaced if it is no longer functioning as it should. Kindly reach out to us in case you have any concerns, and we should be able to help you diagnose if indeed there is an issue.
      4) Our service center is currently located in Meycauayan, Bulacan. For more information, you can check out this link: https://panther.ph/panther-ecq-service-center/
We hope these answer your questions. Thank you for patronizing Panther Quality Products!

Good day! Kindly note that the AVR does not cause the voltage fluctuation, but it helps regulate the voltage fluctuation so that the power entering your appliance is stabilized. If your question is, is it normal that there is a lot of voltage fluctuation in your area – this will depend on your area (e.g. do you live near factories, malls // do you live in the province etc). But yes, in the Philippines, many areas do suffer from regular voltage fluctuation, which is why we recommend using an AVR to protect your appliances. We hope this helps!

Why do all the LEDs of my panther voltage protector remain lighted even on normal line voltage? Even does the low voltage or high voltage LEDs turn on to indicate the protection? or did I buy a defective unit?
